Welcome

The goal of the Comprehensive Family Practice Review (CFPR) Program is to equip family physicians and general practitioners with high quality skills for 21st-century practice. The program is intended to provide knowledge and skills vital to any GP/FP who wants to treat common clinical conditions optimally, to identify and answer clinical questions quickly and accurately, to relate effectively to others within the health system, and to continue to learn throughout a practice lifetime. It will be of particular interest to physicians intending to re-enter or change their scope of practice, physicians who are new to practice in Ontario, as well as physicians who are looking for a comprehensive update in contemporary primary care practice.

Group Learning

A group-learning component – Over five weekends spread through the academic year, participants will review family practice approaches, ideas, and techniques they can continue to apply to their practice and learning.

Individualized Learning

An individualized component designed to prepare participants for continuing professional development and learning. Participants will be matched with a continuing professional development learning coach to assist them with assessing their professional development opportunities, setting focused learning objectives and planning CPD activities to realize educational goals, both during the program and throughout the practitioner’s professional career.

Entry Criteria and Application Process

Registrants must be proficient in English and currently licensed to practice in Ontario. Applicants will receive confirmation of registration via email with a link to complete a confidential web-based questionnaire comprised of an overview of needs/challenges and practice and personal profiles. A telephone interview will be scheduled once the questionnaire has been completed for a deeper assessment of needs and to optimize preceptor matching.
