Course Description

This conference is an annual two-day review of new and important topics in diagnostic surgical pathology. This two-day symposium is designed to highlight recent advances in surgical pathology with corresponding clinical
correlation and prognostic implications.

The 2011 symposium will focus on Breast and Head and Neck Pathology. Teaching formats will be interactive lectures, panel discussions and case
discussions.

Goals

  • Improve diagnostic ability in difficult breast, thyroid and head and neck tumours.
  • Apply the most recent data regarding processing of post-therapy resections and axillary lymph nodes.

Course Objectives

  • Assess and identify lesions, including mimics of malignancy and post therapy changes
  • Evaluate recent data regarding processing of post-therapy breast resections and axillary lymph nodes
  • Discuss the most recent data regarding lymph node metastases and mimics in breast carcinoma
  • Investigate the role of Human Papilloma virus infection in the Head and Neck Diseases
  • Review difficult diagnoses in thyroid pathology
  • Explore new diagnostic approaches in salivary gland pathology
