Goal
This two day course has been created to assist physicians in acquiring knowledge and learning new skills in the field of pain management, especially in the area of chronic non-malignant pain.
Learning Objectives
- To explain the Pathophysiology of pain.
- To discern patterns in practice which may lead to addiction on the part of patients.
- To Manage patients’ pain problems in a way which reflects appropriate use of analgesic, other medications and non-pharmacological methodologies.
- To communicate more effectively with patients regarding pain management.
- To describe the principles of appropriate benzodiazepine prescribing.
Maximum number of participants each session is 12.

The Physicians Prescribing Skills course, that was previously managed and held at the offices of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, is now being delivered by the Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
